Height settings and Dados?
Post by TORQUE on Feb 8th, 2012, 3:33pm

Hi guys, Having Newbee lack of knowledge moment. Would appreciate any help and input!
I am trying to build a base cabinet 31.25” tall w/o kick. Have played around for a few days and can not find what effects height. “Base standards” are set to 31.25 but the print sheet states 30.25 one full inch shorter. My hopes are to end up with a 31.25 x 23.25 (Printed) end panel and then Rabbit top, bottom and back edges to the back. Height is hang up right now. I figured out width. I can trick the program by changing height to 32.25” but this is why I purchased the program so I would not have to think as hard!

In General standard: What does “Dado depth” setting effect? Just the two sides? Or does the program use this elsewhere? Dado and Rabbit same for program purpose? What happens when you combine cabs , will program leave partition long for a dado? Or will it assume flush mount?

Thanks
Ron

If you set the toekick height to zero the sides will be given the same as the cabinet height. I have a feeling you read the helpfile topic about separate toe kick and have it set to -.001. That shortens the side length so it doesn't go to the bottom of the bottom rail.

The dado setting in the general standards only affects the length of the bottom, as in where they are dadoed into the sides. One exception is if you set it the same as your box material thickness, then it will shorten the sides so they sit on top of the bottom.

Partitions sit on top of the bottom.

Thanks Rob for your response!

Do have toe kicks set for -.001 as I read. Changed to 0. and no change after saving. still at 1" smaller. Does it update existing cabinets.? have tried drawing new ones but same outcome. have not deleted cab and redrawn.

Thanks for your prompt help.

Yes, it should apply only to newly created cabinets. You can open the editing window for each existing base and manually change the toe height there.

Yep, changing to zero fixed the end height. THANKS!!! Will play around some more to see what eles it effected. In the morning.

Thanks you for you input!!!

Nice program, I just need to devote the time to get the most of what you have already done!
