xx door standards
« Thread started on: Aug 5th, 2013, 4:45pm »

OK this is going to drive me nuts , i now am trying to figure out the panel size issue, from room to room in project im working on the panel size in the doors are all different , i go into one room change the size in the standards to acheive the measurement needed and hit calculate ,the program then makes the panel 1/4" to big in the cutout ,so i go in the standards take the 1/4" off make it 0 and then its righthuh? so move to the next room the panel is again to small by a 1/4" huh? the standards are set the same , example door size 16" x 20 "
stiles 20"
rails 12"
panel 12"x16"

the program will tell me that the panel is 12x15 3/4"in some rooms with it on the adjustment on .25 but then in other rooms it has to be on 0 ... i now am going to have to go through and look at everything and just do it the old way i cannot trust this at all it is confusing the hell out of me

discovered another thing just now after printing some out it also added 1/4" to the measurement on one room when i had it to adjust the panel 1/4" which that would make the panel the right size to begin with , if that was the case i shouldn't have to add anything to the panel size .i calculate with the 1/4" adjustment it comes out a 1/4" to big on height. i remove the adjustment it comes out a 1/4" to small , i then add the 1/4" adjustment back and then it is right huh? but then i move to another room , it is a 1/4" to small to start so the process then begins again

The only way the same size doors can give different panel sizes is if you have the stiles & rails set differently. Or, if you have the stile & rail cutter depth set differently. These two settings are saved along with the cabinet when it is created. The panel adjustments are not.

I would suggest you create a sample job with just one cabinet. Then you can adjust the standards until your part sizes are correct. And, if after changing a standard, if it doesn't change the part sizes you will know you need to delete the cabinet and recreate it with the new setting.

what I'm going to do is delete the entire settings and start completely over ,you told me how to wipe the program clean i do believe i just have to go back and find it ,, I've done the sample cabinet i think its my computer , awhile back i had issues with the 3D i don't know if you remember but it would come in all black and white and transparent ,well it still does this from time to time i never know when its going to work or not , and the material names its just floating around somewhere and comes out when it wants to ,so i think a fresh start is in need .. if i erase the program completely is the a way to re install without having to buy it again ?

Resetting the standards won't effect any saved cabinets that may have the wrongs standards already applied to them when they were created. Most but not all of the settings are saved with the cabinet.

Deleting and reinstalling the program will have no effect on the registration.
