Dovetail drawers
« Thread started on: Nov 11th, 2009, 1:36pm » |

I'm thinking of making dovetail drawer boxes what would I set the drawer standards to figuring I 'm using 1/2 thick side material? Should I set the rabbit depth to 1/2 in? Kinda in brain fart mode right now.
Thanks Ed

I make my dovetail drawers by sending a fax to my door/drawer supplier so unfortunately Im not too much help.
Besides being a smart ass, the point of my reply is to suggest outsourcing your drawers. I have found I can buy them built and finished for less than my costs. Just something to look into.

Correct Ed, that will give you the right parts sizes for dovetailed drawers.

I agree on outsourcing drawer boxes, for about $5.00 more than materials, I can have them made with dovetails, clear coat and my logo laser engraved on the inside. When I get busy, its the only way to go.

Thanks for the replies.
Rob thats what thought. Just had one of those days where I couldn't do anything right. Outsourcing may also be a option I need to do a little more reasearch.
Warner, I like the idea of the laser engraving, who are you using?
Jeff, thanks for the link.

Here is another company that I've used for doors and drawers. www.walzcraft.com. They are out of Wisconsin and produce very quality products.
Personally, I like making dovetailed drawer boxes.
