« Thread started on: Feb 27th, 2010, 3:34pm »

Hi Rob,
I'm still having problems getting the bottom for base cabinets sized correctly on the layouts. Under the "more" button I have "Inset back depth" set at .5 and "back material thickness" set at .5 Under "General Standards" I have the "Amount back is recessed into cabinet" and "back material thickness" set at .5. On the layout sheets the bottom width is coming out the same depth as the sides and not minus the .5 as they used to. Is there a problem or am I missing something?

Regards

Is this for all your base cabinets or just one particular type?

I created a 24" deep Base with the setting as you mentioned. The sides come out 23 1/4" and the bottom is 22 3/4". What sizes are you getting?

Also, are you referring to the Panel layout sheets or the shop plans? Or the master parts list?

Rob,
I was referring to the Panel layout sheets. I tried what you did and I got a 24" bottom. I did down load the latest version last night to be sure I was up to date as well.

?

Thank you.

The inset back setting is saved with each cabinet so if you import a cabinet from another job it will transfer this setting along with it.

Rob,
We passed in cyber space. I edited my post when I realized I had miss read the bottom dimension on the trial cabinet. I seem to be getting the wrong size all the time.

I just tried another new job where I made 1 cabinet 24" and another 18" and I got a 24" and 18" bottom respectfully.

Here's the formula the program uses for the depth of the bottoms. There are only 3 settings that affect the depth of the bottoms. It almost sounds like you have the inset depth set to a negative number.

bcbd=cd-FFMT-IBD+FFBDD

bcbd-base cabinet bottom depth
cd-cabinet depth
FFMT-face frame material thickness
IBD-inset back depth
FFBDD-face frame dado depth for bottoms

It might be quicker to send me the job file so I can see what settings you have applied to the cabinet.

To send me a job file:
1) Open the program and press the ‘Open job’ button
2) In the file dialog, right click on the job and select Send to>mail recipient
This will start an email with the file included as an attachment, send it to me.

Before I go too far, what depth are you looking for with your bottoms?

Ok, that's what I'm getting so you should check the "box to face frame dado" setting in the General Standards. This setting doesn't get saved with each cabinet so I can't tell what you have it set to. I'm guessing it is set to 1/2"
