sizing on drawer and door fronts
Post by seanswoodworking on May 21st, 2010, 6:59pm

Yes this is my first day here....need a little help. I cannot figure out what information I need to input to correct my drawer and door fronts sizes to reflect correctly in the master printout. I played with the stiles and rails on the base cabinet setup and also adjusted the overlay a few times...but am still not getting the right finished sizes on the program. I am doing frameless euro style cabinets and using 3/4" material with a full overlay hinge. I am inputting a 5" drawer height, yet my finished drawer front is 6 1/4" high ( on the printout). I need them to be 5 7/8". The doors are also taller than they should be. The width is fine, not exactly what we normally do...but will work. Can you tell me what else I should adjust or am I missing somethinghuh

Hi Sheri, welcome to the forum.

Take a look at the Special Overlay in the Door Standards. With this you can individually adjust the overlay for the top rail, middle rail, bottom rail, stiles and middle stiles.

With a little trial & error you should get the sizes you need. If not, post back for more help.

thanks Rob! I saw that but did not think it applied to what I was doing. It instantly made a difference in the height of the drawer fronts....now need to work on the widths.

Any explanation of why the "special overlay" changed what I set in the standard door settings?

The values entered in the Special Overlay boxes shouldn't effect what is entered in the standard overlay box. Did you by chance change to a different set of standards with the Setting # radio buttons?
