question Side Dados for Fixed Shelf
« Thread started on: Mar 3rd, 2012, 11:09am »

How or can I adjust the dado depth to factor in a fixed shelf? I don't want adjustable. This is important so I can get the correct cutlist and not be off when putting the cabinet together.

The program won't give dados for the dxf output for fixed shelves but you can get them the correct size by using the "deduct for shelf length" in the general standards. For a 3/8 dado you would need to enter -.75

Rob-

Thanks for the info. Quick question about your response. Why would you use -.75 for 3/8. Did you mean 3/4?

Thanks.

The value you enter in "deduct for shelf length" is subtracted from the length of the shelf. To add to the length you need to enter a negative value.

opps..I forgot the "-" in front of the 3/4. So, is it suppossed to be "-3/4" or "-.75" for a 1/4 inch dado cut to be added to the shelf length? The 3/8 is what confused.

For a 1/4" dado on each side you would need to enter -.5 (1/4 on each side)
