inset of back
Post by notimeforwork on Mar 20th, 2015, 3:00pm
Hi everyone, I found this great program a year ago - and although I have never built a cabinet before I thought this program looks comprehensive enough that I could possibly succeed at such an undertaking.
I have been playing around with it and I really can't believe the bang for the buck this program gives me.
I am still attempting to figure this program out - and I've already stated my position as never having built any casework - so I may struggle with incorrect terminology or something. In other words I am a noob, and although I have great expectations of what this program can help me accomplish - I have a realistic idea that I am not going to challenge the skills of a master carpenter.
With all that being said I am left with my first question about settings in the program.
I am a little confused about the screw strips on the back of the cabinet. If I use a 1/4 inch back, and 3/4 inch screw strips - shouldn't the rabbit for the back be in 1 inch and flush with the back of the cabinet? The dxf files I have produced so far don't look like this is the case.

The program is setup for the screw strip to be inside the cabinet. In the image below the top is brown, the back purple and the screw strip green.

Ok, that makes sense. If I were to use sheet goods for the screw strips, are people edge banding the screws strips?
