Print face frames only
« Thread started on: Oct 26th, 2011, 11:07am » |

I posted this in Tips and Tricks, by mistake.
Is there a way to import a cabinet to a new file and view the new files shop plan in the review window, showing only the face frame and its parts, without the box parts listed. I tried editing the box depth to the frame thickness but the box parts still show in the shop plan review window. I’d like to be able to print plans for only the face frames and their parts.

If you set your depth to -1 it will not put in any box parts, that section will be blank. If you set your number of doors and drawers to 0 it will leave these off as well and you are left with just the face frame parts.

-1 does work if you're only interested in the face frames but entering 3/4 (face frame thickness) will make the drawings look correct when you only need a face frame, like for a two sided cabinet.

OK, that works with a new cabinet, but I was hoping to do it with an imported cabinet. Maybe I'm missing a step. When I import one, and change the depth to the face frame thickness; the box parts still appear in the preview window shop plan. I'd like to be able to import exhisting cabinets from a job file, to a new "face frame only file", for that job. Then print a shop plan with only the face frame and it's parts. I think it would be easier to read for an individual who was only building the face frames for a job. Their plan would show only the information they needed.
In the past I did it with paint and paste, or something like that. Maybe it was with a PDF, anyway, I was hoping there was a way to do it within the program. This is a GREAT TOOL!!

It should work with importing a cabinet or creating a new one. What cabinet type are you trying it with and it isn't working?

Ah OK, it looks like I didn't add that feature to the tall custom. I have to see if I can.
