CSV file???FOR CNC
Post by NickB on Nov 16th, 2009, 06:29am

How can I save a CSV file? I see a place where I can print a CSV but I found a place where I can inport a csv file into my cnc software and would like to see what it will do with the file.

Thanks,
Nick

In the General Standards make sure there is a check in the box labeled 'create csv'. then after calculating your parts you can highlight the list and copy & paste it into an excel spreadsheet. (This is the process I plan to eliminate)

Once you have the parts in your spreadsheet you can import it into your cnc software.

Thanks Rob I will see if I can get it to work.

Are you trying to get your program to create dxf files?

Thanks again,
Nick

Rob,
I messed with it a bit tonight trying to get the cvs file to load into my cabinet program but it looks like there is to much other stuff attached to the cvs. Like what number cabinet it is and the name at the end of each type. I don't know exactly what the program I have is looking for so I don't know how to go about thishuhhuhhuh?? huh

Let me know if you have any ideas.
Thanks,
Nick

I haven't done much yet but I did look at the file you sent and found that it's 8488 lines of text for just the one panel. That's going to take a while to sort out.

What program are you using and does it say anything in the documentation for it?

I'm using Cabinet Parts Pro. I sent an email to that guy but have not heard back from him as of yet and I don't know what to look for in the program to help this line up.

Just went to help site and found this:

Sample of CVS

W,30,30,12,1
B,27,30,12,1
SB,15,30,12,1
DB,12,30,12,1,4

Cabinet type =0
Width=1
Height=2
depth=3
Quanity=4
Number of drawers=5

Does this make sence to you??

That appears to be a cabinet list with the following format:
Cabinet type,Width,Height,depth,Quantity,Number of drawers(optional?)

The owner of Cabinet Parts Pro is a customer of Cabinet Planner so maybe he will chime in and explain how to import just the parts instead of the whole cabinet.

What is the differance between the CVS in Cabinet Planner compared to CPP? Can I adjust something in Cabinet Planner to make it come out like what is needed for CPP?
Or are you trying to go in another direction to make Cabinet Planner CNC compatiable?
Let me know how I can do to help and I will do all I can including testing files for you if you like.

Thanks,
Nick

Cabinet Planner creates the parts list based on the user’s settings. CPP takes a list of cabinet sizes and then creates its own parts lists from that.

I have no way of comparing the end results. We will need to wait until you hear back from them.
