My Cabin Kitchen
Post by RWL on Jan 14th, 2010, 1:45pm
Here are some of the pictures of the kitchen I am starting. Actually I already have a 10' island already done, I will post photos later, it sits parallel to the long wall obviously.
Anyway if anyone would like to let me know what they think, what I can do to change it up and add some zing to it I would appreciate it.
It will be knotty alder, black granite tops. Some reason the micro got lost above the oven/range. The island will be black, slightly distressed. Drawer front are 5 piece.
Okay, I added the photos from photobucket, there's a ton of code in my post, but no pictures...

I'm not familar with how photobucket works but I think you need to use a link for bulletin boards. What options does it give you for your links?

The trash compactor on the end will actually be a mini fridge for "soda"
See how my end panel show up different, I never figured how to do them correctly. When I build them I modify it so it works as you will see tonight when I post the island. Still don't always understand end panels and toe kicks as they are figured by the program or how they are to be assembled. But hey, it's just me.

not loving the big refridgerator in the middle of the wall. It is chopping up good countertop space. Have you thought about going to a peninsula style or a separate area for the "bar"?

Well, just about done. I need the backsplash, a vent on the toe warmer, and there is a valance panel above the sink. I left it out for now, because the wife thought maybe a copper backsplash and I might put the same copper panel in the valance.
Thank You Rob, for your help getting me started. I did this kitchen and two bathrooms, each with a linen and 2 vanities. Your program is great, and your customer support is second to none. I posted these on a woodworking site and mentioned I used and reccomended the program. Hopefully it helps your sales, I can't see anyone complaining about this program, especially for the price they pay for it.
Sorry the pictures are a bit fuzzy, not sure why, new camera.

The handles on the frig cabinets look odd to me being on the outside. They are actually pull outs, so you can stand to the side of the frig and the full depth pulls out. Makes for loading and unloading the items that normally get lost in those deep cabinets very easy. Putting the handleson the inside edges just doesn't work, although it looks more "normal".
There is a spice pull out upper to the left of the window, a pull out trash/recycling above the cutting board in the island. Lazy suzan in the lower corner.
All drawers on ball bearing slides, I had two daughters (130lbs) standing in the pot/pan drawers and they work great.

You should take a picture with it out. Nice work.
