Seeking Advice
Post by jjokub on Feb 3rd, 2012, 3:15pm

We just completed a large custom job figured entirely with the program. It far exceeded my hopes. Thank's Rob. On the flip side of large custom, we have a contractor who specifies a more economical set of cabinets: a 5/8 interior with 3/4 plywood good ends. Has any one else run into this, essentially having two different thicknesses of box material figured by the program? Any advice will be appreciated.

I have not because I use nothing but 3/4 material (5/8" drawer boxes), but if the contractor wants 2 different sizes just charge for all 3/4" I do not believe you can set 2 thicknesses and for shop drawings if thats your concern re-draw the cabinets with the standards changed. In a sense having to sets.

The program isn't setup for using different box material thicknesses.

But, a while ago someone told me they added the material size to the material name so the shop plan and parts lists would separate the materials. You also need to change the dado depth for each situation to adjust for the different side thicknesses so the bottoms come out the correct length.

Seems like a lot of work to me.
